Coffee quiz: find your coffee bean match
Six questions about how you brew and what you like to taste. The quiz scores the 31 coffees in our catalog on brew method, flavor, roast, caffeine and acidity, then shows your three best matches with the guide and gear that fit.
How do you drink coffee most?
How the quiz matches you
The six questions, and what each one does to the result:
- How do you drink coffee most? Beans whose listed brew methods fit your answer score highest, and the answer also decides which gear you are shown.
- Which flavors pull you in? The biggest single factor. A bean tagged for your flavor lane scores most; otherwise it scores by how close its acidity and body are to that lane.
- Roast preference? Beans in your roast range gain points, others lose a little. Not sure leaves roast out of it.
- Caffeine? Decaf or regular narrows the list before scoring; either keeps both.
- How do you feel about bright, acidic coffee? Prefer smooth and lower-acid beans move up; love it and brighter beans do.
- Last one — pick your lane A small nudge: the reliable lane favors gentler acidity, the interesting lane favors single origins and brighter cups.
Your result shows a taste profile for acidity, body and sweetness, a roast to start with, three coffees with the reasons they matched, and a neighboring flavor lane worth trying next.

Common questions
How does the coffee quiz pick my beans?
It scores each of the 31 whole-bean coffees in our catalog against your answers and shows the top three. A bean earns points when its listed brew methods fit how you drink coffee, when it is tagged for the flavor lane you picked (or, failing that, when its acidity and body sit close to that lane), when its roast falls in your roast range, and when its acidity suits your answer on bright coffee. Choosing decaf or regular filters the list before any scoring happens.
What if I'm not sure what roast I like?
Pick Not sure. The quiz then adds no roast points either way and suggests a starting roast from your flavor answer instead: medium-to-dark for bold or smooth and low-acid, light-to-medium for fruity or floral, and medium for everything else.
Does the quiz include decaf?
Yes. Answer Decaf and it only scores the 3 decaf coffees in the catalog, then points you to Best Decaf Coffee (That Actually Tastes Good). Either's fine keeps decaf and regular beans in the running together.
Which bean guide will the quiz send me to?
One guide, chosen in this order: decaf drinkers get Best Decaf Coffee (That Actually Tastes Good); cold brew drinkers get Best Coffee Beans for Cold Brew; anyone who wants it smooth gets Low Acid Coffee: What It Is and the Best Brands; espresso and milk-drink drinkers get Best Coffee Beans for Espresso; everyone else gets Best Chocolatey & Nutty Coffee.
