Should you buy it?

Buy it if

  • Big households
  • Programmable mornings
  • Under $150
  • 14-cup capacity with a 1-4 cup small-batch mode

Skip it if

  • Not SCA-certified
  • Glass carafe on a hot plate can stew the last cups
  • Carafe drips on the pour, a long-running owner complaint

Not for you? Consider the Technivorm Moccamaster KBGV Select — or see all coffee makers .

The verdict

Cuisinart's PerfecTemp is the default American drip machine: 14 cups, a 24-hour programmable timer, brew-strength control, a 1-4 cup setting for small batches, adjustable keep-warm temperature and a reusable gold-tone filter. It is not SCA-certified and it will not out-brew a Moccamaster, but it is the machine most households actually buy, and it fills the gap under every other pick on this page.
